Mesotherapy for hair
Hair mesotherapy is a medically invasive procedure that involves microinjecting various areas of the scalp with preparations containing hyaluronic acid, various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, growth factors and other substances. The preparations are selected individually for each patient, depending on the condition of the hair and scalp in each case. Scalp mesotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for hair loss and other hair problems, as it has a positive effect on the hair and scalp after the first treatment. The ingredients in shampoos, masks and other anti-hair loss products are not as effective and efficient as those used in mesotherapy treatments. The active ingredients are micro-injected directly into the problem areas and act on the hair follicles and scalp cells to improve blood and oxygen circulation.
What hair problems does mesotherapy treat?
Hair loss, thinning hair and scalp problems are caused by a lack of certain vitamins, poor nutrition, stress, hormonal disorders, pregnancy and other reasons. Androgenetic baldness is also common. This is the main cause of hair thinning and thinning in men and women.
Mesotherapy for hair is applied:
- To treat reactive hair loss (after childbirth, surgeries, strict diets);
- Androgenetic hair loss;
- Focal hair loss (when the area does not exceed 40% of the hairy part of the head);
- Seborrhoea of the scalp associated with sebaceous gland disintegration;
- Treatment of dandruff;
- For dry, itchy scalp;
- To strengthen brittle, weak hair;
- For lusher, healthier hair;
- To prevent grey hair.
Needle mesotherapy for hair nourishes the scalp and hair follicles, restores missing components, activates scalp blood circulation and metabolism, resulting in healthier hair, shinier hair, reduced hair loss and regrowth of limp hairs.
Some clinics offer hairless mesotherapy for hair, but its effectiveness is much lower, so only fractional mesotherapy for hair loss is performed in the centres of Laser Dermatology Clinic in Vilnius and Klaipėda.
How to prepare for hair mesotherapy?
No special preparation is required. The dermatologist first carries out a detailed analysis of the patient’s scalp condition and decides on the composition of the active ingredients that should be used for mesotherapy. Aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided for a week before the procedure. These painkillers can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising during mesotherapy.
Procedure and cost of mesotherapy for hair
The active substance preparation is injected directly into the problem areas of the scalp by microinjection. If necessary, the injection site is anaesthetised with an anaesthetic cream. The procedure lasts between 30 and 90 minutes. It usually needs to be repeated several or several times. The active substances are gradually resorbed, so the effect is long-lasting and the treatments are repeated infrequently – once a week or less. The treatment is quick, low-pain and can be combined with other treatment methods.
It is very important that the mesotherapy procedure for hair is carried out only by a professional doctor, who, after assessing the condition of the scalp and the hair, can choose the right product, injection technique and number of treatments.
The cost of the mesotherapy treatment depends on the product chosen and the quantity of the treatment.

- It is not recommended to rub the hair or urinate on the scalp;
- It is not recommended to drink alcohol;
- Avoid direct sunlight for some time (2-3 days);
